பணமதிப்பிழப்பு நடவடிக்கையால் சிறு , குறு விவசாயிகள் தற்கொலை செய்து கொள்ளும் விவகாரத்தில் தமிழகம் முழுதும் பல்வேறு இயக்கத்தினர் விவசாயிகளுக்கு ஆதரவாகத் திரண்டு அவர்களுக்கு நல்லதொரு தீர்வைப் பெற்றுத் தரும் பொருட்டு பேரணிகளும், ஆர்பாட்டங்களும் நடத்தி வருகின்றனர். அதன் ஒரு பகுதியாக இன்று விவசாயிகள் தற்கொலையைத் தடுக்கத் தவறிய மத்திய மாநில அரசுகளைக் கண்டித்து மே 17 இயக்கத்தினர் சென்னையில் ஆர்பாட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டனர். மே 17 இயக்கத்தின் நிறுவனர் திருமுருகன் செய்தியாளர்களிடம் பேசுகையில் தமிழக விவசாயிகளை இனி கட்சிகள் காப்பாற்றாது, இயக்கங்கள் தான் காப்பாற்ற வெண்டும் என்று கூறினார். மேலும் திராவிடக் கட்சிகளின் நோக்கம் எப்போதுமே தேர்தல் நேர அரசியலாக இருக்கிறதே தவிர பொதுமக்கள் மற்றும் விவசாயிகளின் நலன் சார்ந்ததாக இல்லை எனவும் அவர் கருத்து தெரிவித்தார்.
